The largest offshore drilling platform "Berkut", worth 12 billion dollars, is located in the Pacific ocean 25 kilometers from the coast of the Russian island of Sakhalin towards Japan. There are huge drilling platforms standing in the ocean around the world, where the depth far exceeds the depth of the platform "Berkut", but the platform "Berkut" has the largest and most massive surface part weighing 45 thousand tons. The height of the platform is 144 m (almost 50-storey building) and total weight of more than 200 thousand tons. The "Berkut" platform is able to withstand the onslaught of 20-meter waves, earthquakes up to 9 points on the Richter scale and temperatures up to 45 degrees Celsius with wind gusts up to 120 km per hour.
