Chelyabinsk plant Trubodetal included in OMK group manufactured the first Russian packaged plant of separation in associated oil gas (natural gas liquids extraction unit - BLOG). This unit, developed by employees of Moscow State Technical University named after. Bauman and Gazprom Neft Scientific & Technical Center together with OMK engineers, was tested and put into industrial operation at Tsarichanskiy Field developed by Gazpromneft-Orenburg.
This unit allows oil field companies to stop burning raw associated gas processing it as much as possible immediately at the field.
The gas, cooled down and purified of mechanical impurities and water steams, is divided into useful fractions, i.e. natural gas gasoline and methane. BLOG allows to extract up to 5.2 thousand ton of stabile gas condensate from associated oil gas annually, and also reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 7% at oil & gas treatment facilities.
Dry stripped gas is delivered as petrol to the power center of the oil treatment unit. BLOG allows to return to oil the target components that are lost with associated oil gas also increasing the mass flow of market products for delivery to the oil pipeline by 1.5%. Design solutions of the unit allow to increase its energy efficiency by 10%, reduce its dimensions, and ensure the minimum pressure resistance of the flow through BLOG.
The unit itself is a block module 9 x 12 m with overall weight of 80 ton, and it is easily moved with the help of trailers. It can be quickly assembled right at the field. BLOG operates automatically with minimum participation of operators. Monitoring and control are executed from the central control station.
“The problem of associated oil gas recovery is one of the major issues in oil & gas industry, especially in Russia. Our country, unfortunately, is the leader in terms of quantities of associated gas which is simply burnt in flares, whereas in the West they learnt to convert it to fuel. Flares are integral part of our oil fields which entails serious environmental problems as burning of associated oil gas is accompanied by emissions of big volumes of hazardous substances, i.e. products of gas incomplete combustion, carbon dioxide and sulphur compounds. BLOG that we created allows to produce oil without harmful emissions of combustion products into the atmosphere. Besides, BLOG produces additional fuel for units which means it reduces the cost of oil production, and also it enhances the quality of the product”, - said Aleksandr Vaschenko, Managing Director of Chelyabinsk OMK plant.
