On May 26, 2020, an online seminar "Digital communications and information security in the era of change: new opportunities and related threats" was held.
The event was organized by the National Oil and Gas Forum together with NEFTEGAZ Exhibition and Expocenter JSC, the program partner was EY, the technology partner for videoconferencing was TrueConf, and the general information partner was "Oil and Capital" magazine.
During the event, important topics of economic transformation in the new environment were discussed, and three topical units were provided for this purpose:
1) changes in the world economy and the fuel and energy sector;
2) tools and key trends of effective presentation and opportunities;
3) threats of digital communications in an era of change.
The webinar was moderated by Director of the National Oil and Gas Forum, Sergey Yatsenya. The discussion was opened by Daniil Sorokin, Director of the Department of information support and digital transformation of the fuel and energy sector of the Russian Ministry of Energy. In his opening speech on the trends of digitalization of the industry in changing economic conditions, he noted that the Russian Ministry of Energy has taken serious systematic actions to create a center of competence for digital development of both fuel and energy industries and interdepartmental processes. In particular, the Department of information support and digital transformation of the fuel and energy sector has been created, which ensures the development of all tools of state functions and powers using digital technologies, and the Ministry is also developing a Departmental program for digital transformation.
During the webinar, participants made presentations, discussed current issues, opportunities and development, and each had the opportunity to make comments and ask questions online.
In the final part of the online event, a foresight session "Digital communications in the age of change: new opportunities and threats" was held, focusing not only on the predictive aspect, but also on more practical recommendations in the context of new challenges and threats.
Mikhail Terletsky, Head of Natural Resources Sector, IBM Eastern Europe/IBM Asia highlighted several key trends of the current year: the increasing struggle of platforms, the importance of trust in the face of constant changes, the growth of conscious and responsible consumption, as well as the critical importance of skills and values of personnel. Dmitry Odintsov, Development Director, TrueConf expressed solidarity with the thesis about the high competitiveness of the online platform market, noting the key importance of ensuring privacy in the course of active digitalization of processes. Alexey Petukhov, Head of Kaspersky Industrial CyberSecurity in Russia, continued the conversation about information security, which is a determining factor in the stable process of digitalization, and noted the priority of operating system security. The session was finished by Nikolay Samodaev, EY Partner, Head of Department of services in the field of information technology management, IT risks and cybersecurity. In his speech, the speaker pointed to the increasing relevance of tools for digitalization of the labor process with the onset of the crisis and mentioned that some issues on information security have not yet been worked out, so companies should pay attention to this aspect during remote work.
The event was attended by more than 120 participants from key companies in the oil and gas industry, relevant regulators, leading expert organizations and representatives of the media.
