The construction of the first stage of "Power of Siberia" pipeline  – the 2157 km long linear part to the border crossing in the Blagoveschensk Region is already complete. In August 2019, it was connected to Chayandinskoye field and filled with gas, which is then transported to border gas metering station near the town of Blagoveshchensk. At present, commissioning works and drilling of operating wells are carried out at the main facilities of the Chayandinskoye field.
The next stage will be filling the cross-border crossing over Amur river with gas. Thus, the linear part of the pipeline is prepared for the beginning of pipeline deliveries of Russian gas to China. The planned delivery dates for the new export pipeline are due to begin in December 2019.
In addition to gas from the Chayandinskoye field, the pipeline will receive gas from the Kovykta field in the Irkutsk region, where drilling operations are currently underway. It is expected that gas from Irkutsk region will begin to flow to the "Power of Siberia" in 2023.

Power of Siberia is the largest gas transportation system in Eastern Russia; it will transport gas from Irkutsk and Yakutsk gas production centers to Russian consumers in the Far East and China. Its construction began in 2014, when Gazprom and China's CNPC signed a 30-year contract to supply Russian gas to China. According to the document, about 38 billion cubic meters of gas will be supplied from Russia per year.
